A professor at Texas A&M University at Galveston failed an entire class for reasons that he outlined in an inflammatory email sent to his students, including what the teacher called "backstabbing, game playing, cheating, lying (and) fighting."

In the email, Professor Irwin Horowitz called the students in his Strategic Management class a "disgrace to (the) school," adding that he will no longer be teaching the course and all students will be given failing grades.

The professor outlined some of the offenses committed by his students, including being called a "f------ moron" several times to his face, repeated incidences of cheating and lying, and spreading rumors about Horowitz, his wife and other colleagues. Horowitz reportedly felt so unsafe in his classroom that he required police protection during the class as well as the class following it.

"In my 20 years of teaching I have never seen nor taught a class with less honor than this," Horowitz wrote, adding that the class "is an embarrassment in general."

"This is a complete disgrace to your school, the A&M Honor Code, those honorably holding A&M degrees, to your families who supported you, and ultimately to yourselves," Horowitz wrote to his students.

In spite of the allegations, Dr. Patrick Louchouarn, vice president of Academic Affairs at the university, has made it clear that while school officials respect Horowitz, the failing grades he has vowed to give his students will not be honored.

"None of them have failed until the end of the class, meaning the only reason a student would fail because he or she has not performed the expectations for that particular class," Louchouran told KPRC Ch. 2.

School officials say the department head will take over Horowitz's class until the end of the semester.
