Flirting with death small plane scenario makes this video unforgettable: Reporter caught up in a buzzy flight
It was an assignment for which I was out of the office for much longer than expected, although I could have been gone — shall we say — forever?
On a quest to understand more about honey and the importance of bees in food production and the environment, this adventure began at Whole Foods Market, meandered to Pearland to meet an influential and good-natured beekeeper and took off to the skies to survey the many colonies that were sweetly condensed in one delicious jar of Stroope Honey Farms honey.
Try staying calm while a 1964 Cessna 150 swings back and forth thanks to strong winds while black clouds form all around you.
All that was planned.
The inclement weather that threatened the two-seat plane's ability to safely reach solid ground? That wasn't planned, but it did make for one heck of a tale of how one of our favorite CultureMap video segments (watch it above and read the original story here) was put together.

During the ordeal, my phone battery went dead. I am still here to say that I experienced a much better fate than my mobile technology though. Fun!
