Oh, what a night! Jersey Boys fan George H.W. Bush visits with cast of hit musical
Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons have hit Houston for a week-and-a-half-long run of Jersey Boysat the Hobby Center, and there was a special guest in the audience for last Saturday's matinee performance.
During intermission, President George H.W. Bush — now fully recovered from a persistent cough that kept him hospitalized for seven weeks late last year — went backstage to meet the cast of the Tony-winning musical.
A spokesperson tells CultureMap that this was the second time that Bush 41 has seen Jersey Boys at the Hobby Center (he also saw a performance during last year's tour), and that the cast presented him with a signed copy of the production's coffee table book.
When the former president returned to his seat after intermission, the audience gave him a standing ovation.
Oh, what a night, indeed.
Jersey Boys, presented by Gexa Energy Broadway at the Hobby Center, will run through Sunday. Tickets start at $29.
