What have we become? Thief attempts attack on frozen yogurt haven in the Heights
Oh, hell no.
A brave witness averted a fro-yo disaster early Friday morning after scaring away man who appeared to be breaking into the 19th Street location of Menchie's — the dessert chain known for its scarily-addictive frozen yogurt, cheery staff and a delightful array of cartoon mascots known as the Sweet Friends.
KHOU Ch. 11 News reports that the unknown assailant was spotted throwing a rock through the shop's front door around 1 a.m. But as the man stepped through the broken glass, a person started yelling at him from across the street. The suspect quickly fled the scene.
Police said they were unsure "what the man was going after by breaking into the yogurt shop."
Police tell KHOU they weren't exactly sure "what the man was going after by breaking into the yogurt shop."
For the time being, Menchie's fans are left scratching their heads, wondering why someone would attack what might be the happiest place on earth.
Was it anti-dairy activism? A crime of passion? Or just mean-spirited vandalism?
Employees at the Heights shop were unable to comment on the incident, but they did wish us all "a smiley day."
