NBA All-Star weekend

The Galleria has been such a popular gathering spot during NBA All-Star weekend that officials closed the mammoth mall 45 minutes early Saturday night after it had reached capacity.
KHOU Channel 11 reports that the Houston Police Department sent Special Response Teams, including a mounted unit, to the mall to help clear the crowds. The escalators were shut down to encourage people to leave and Westheimer between Post Oak and McCue was temporarily blocked off.
The crowd was peaceful and there were no arrests.
Many in the crowd told reporters they had come to The Galleria in hopes of spotting celebrities after reading messages on Twitter and seeing photos on Instagram.
The Galleria will reopen Sunday at 11 a.m.
