Snowpocalypse Now: Dodge ad makes fun of our obsession with the weather
Feb 5, 2011 | 3:07 pm
In the ad, a woman frantically fills her cart full of groceries because of theimpending snow.
A few snowflakes turn ominous in the new Dodge ad.
We're lucky in Houston because the the sun is out — finally — and temperatures are back to normal — more or less. While the frenzy over a half-inch of ice looks a little foolish now, we're not the only ones who have gotten all worked up over a colder-than-usual winter. Now the obsession with winter weather is getting a funny send-up in a new ad for Dodge all-wheel vehicles.
The "Snowpocalypse" ad, which debuts on Super Bowl Sunday in select markets and then goes national Monday, pokes fun at apocalyptic forecasts. When a few snowflakes start to fall, residents of an unnamed town go into a state of panic, stampeding hardware stores and supermarkets for provisions. (Sound familiar?)
