Houstonians don't freak out over the freeze! Cold handled well, defying those Texas stereotypes
Below 32-degrees temps didn't put a freeze on Houstonians' morning, especially with (somewhat) warming sunshine and gorgeous blue skies above.
Rather, Bayou City residents bundled up — and bundled up their pets, too — to brave the arctic blast forecasted for the area. Good samaritans at Star of Hope handed out blankets and coats to the homeless. Pipes are wrapped, plants are covered and even the Houston Zoo animals' habitats are reinforced to keep them snuggly warm. Overall, we braved the cold pretty well, considering most of us are better acclimated to our typical (read warm) Texas clime.
CultureMap rounded up photos of our first winter freeze from several different social media outlets. If you have a pic to share of our wintry day, send it to photo editor Barbara Kuntz at barbara@culturemap.com.
