RYDE for a Reason
Spin studio converted into party room for one night at RYDE for a Reason kickoff
In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Thursday, RYDE indoor cycling staff members kicked off a two-day event benefiting local non-profit The Rose by swapping out their workout gear for cocktail attire and welcoming more than 150 partygoers for a fun-filled evening at the spin-studio-turned-party-room.
Exercise bikes were cleared out to make room for a dance floor as attendees mingled and grooved to beats by DJ PennyT.
RYDE co-founders Ashley Gooch and Andrew Pappas greeted the crowd with opening remarks before introducing the evening’s special guest, breast cancer survivor Courtney Geiger who shared her courageous story while expressing gratitude for The Rose, which for more than 30 years has been dedicated to delivering quality breast health care to all women, both uninsured and insured.
A silent auction, raffle and photo booth kept the party going late into the night along with libations from an open bar, passed bites provided by Seasons 52, and tasty desserts from Dolce Delights and Macaron by Patisse.
The fundraising fun continued on Saturday. Donations starting at $20, which included complimentary beer, mimosas and food from Southern Goods, from four RYDE classes went to the charity.
All told, RYDE for a Reason attracted over 325 supporters and raised more than $20,000 for The Rose.
Guests included: KHOU anchor Ron Trevino, David Cordúa, Lisi Karras, Ray Garcia, Landon Craft, Schuyler Evans, Sergio Marazita, Evan Black, Mark Monroe and Adriana Banks, C. Taylor Chalmers, Chris and Rene Flood, John Stewart, Saba Jawda, Sarah Jawda, Alessandro and Mariana Torre, Kyle Rottet, Jano Nixon Kelley, and Rhona Aksoy.
