A Texas Girl
Eva Longoria shows love for a Houston store, creating a Twitter fever
With her fall trunk show at Tootsies on Wednesday and Thursday, San Antonio-based jewelry designer Claudia Lobao is getting a little help from a big friend in Hollywood.
Longtime fan Eva Longoria posted a glowing tweet, blasting out a plug for the Houston show to her six-million-plus Twitter followers.
Lobao's handcrafted accessories burst onto the fashion scene thanks to a chance encounter with the actress eight years ago.
"[Longoria] came into our flagship store back in 2005 when she had just started doing Desperate Housewives," Lobao told CultureMap during an interview this past winter.
"She liked everything in the store and she suggested that I meet the stylist of the show . . . The next day, she flew me to LA."
For the next five years, the Brazilian-born designer watched her jewelry become a staple on the hit show, capturing the attention of high-end boutiques and savvy celebs like Jessica Alba.
