What: Barry’s Bootcamp grand opening

The scoop: More than 500 fit and fab Houstonians packed the glam news digs of Barry’s Bootcamp to toast the gym’s grand opening in the River Oaks Shopping Center. (Fitness types will recognize Barry’s as the original cardio and strength workout favored by celebrities in the Los Angeles; the gym has since evolved into a total lifestyle brand.)
The energy was “high-intensity” and pulsing as an electric guitarist circulated the lobby area and amplified the DJ’s music. Meanwhile, Barry’s CEO Joey Gonzalez, Houston general manager Megan Cushing, and the team of Houston’s hottest instructors mixed and mingled with party-goers as they lunged to the bar.
Guests sipped on cocktails such as the “BDT (Barry’s Does Tequila)” with Don Julio Blanco, lime juice, and agave. They also noshed on trendy Asian noodles and squid ink macarons with caviar. Partiers then made their way to the infamous “Red Room” and photo booth.
Attendees then toured the locker rooms equipped with Dyson hair dryers and Oribe products and caught a glimpse of the signature fuel bar menu and original workout and athleisure apparel on display throughout the night.
As the night heated up, a shirtless male model handed out booze-infused popsicles to cool things down as people waited for a perfect selfie and photo opp in front of the iconic Barry’s Houston light-up sign.
