Kickoff for Pratham Houston gala features special Napa Valley wine amid posh Houston digs
Pratham Houston president Ash Shah and vice president Asha Dhume welcomed more than 70 attendees to the posh kick-off party for the the organization’s upcoming gala.
Dr. Madaiah Revana gave a moving speech about the importance of supporting the nonprofit, which raises funds to educate India’s children and empower youth through vocational skills training. The cardiologist is also the owner of the Napa Valley-based Revana Winery, which provided sips for the soiree while Brasserie Du Parc provided the bites.
Swank digs with a storied past provided the backdrop for the lively affair, held in the lobby of the nearly 102 year-old former Texaco building. The original wing of the historic downtown skyscraper was designed by Warren & Wetmore, the New York architectural firm that designed Manhattan's Grand Central Terminal. Recently restored via a $95 million revamp, the landmark has been turned into uber-luxe 286-unit apartment complex, The Star.
The 2017 Pratham Houston gala will take place April 1 at the Hilton Americas-Houston, with special guest Sushmita Sen, famed Indian actress, model, and former Miss Universe.
Supporters at the kick-off bash included: KTRK-TV meteorologist Casey Curry who will serve as mistress of ceremonies at the 2017 gala, along with her husband Carl Hahn, Deborah Elias, Corbett Parker, Sonia Soto, Mani Surkari, Meena Patel, Megha Tejpal, Asha andPankaj Dhume, Chari Beth White, Dr. Angela Sturm, Asheet Yagnik, Roseann Rogers, and Lori Freeseand Dan Zindler.
Also in attendance were Pratham USA treasurer Swatantra Jain and his wifeBimla Jain, gala honorary chairsShital andBob Patel, and gala co-chairsAnnu andSagar Naik, and Shawn Karande andMini Vettical.
