VIPs celebrate MFAH's major coup with a special sneak peek: No other U.S. city gets this art
What: The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston dinner and preview of Georges Braque: A Retrospective.
Where: The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
The 411: Just days before the exhibition opened to the public, more than 100 VIP guests perused the retrospective in the Upper Brown Pavilion during cocktails. They moved on to the Blaffer galleries for the seated, French-inspired dinner by City Kitchen. Discussion centered on the amazing exhibition of 78 works and the MFAH's good luck at being the only U.S. institution to nab the exhibition.
On view through May 11, the exhibition premiered at the Grand Palais in Paris, organized to mark the 50th anniversary of the French artist’s death.
Who: Nancy and Butch Abendshein, Clare Attwell Glassell, Anne and Charles Duncan, Sandy and Lee Godfrey, Janet and Le Melcher, Sharyn and Jim Weaver, Margaret Williams, Marc Melcher, Nancy and Rich Kinder, Lisa and Downing Mears, MFAH director Gary Tinterow and Christopher Gardner and a sprinkling of museum figures from Paris.
