The scoop: The Social Book, a resource guide showcasing Houston's calendar of charitable events, honored 15 "Houston Treasures" at its annual soiree. More than 600 guests were welcomed by The Social Book’s publisher Scott Evans and editor Jeff Henry, Sami Shbeeb, and Houston Treasures creator Warner Roberts.
Those recognized for their contributions in the areas of philanthropy, volunteerism, medicine, arts, business, sports, politics, and media were David Adickes, Frank Billingsley, Marie Bosarge, Gayla Gardner, Carmen and Harry “Butch” Mach, Dr. David Poplack, Rachel Regan, Cyndy Garza Roberts, Susan Sarofim, Virginia Steppe, Marcy Taub Wessel, Henry J.N. “Kitch” Taub, and Leticia and Steve Trauber.
With a theme of "The River's Lazy, but Houston Is Not,” the festive affair, coordinated by Paul-David Van Atta and PDV Special Events, boasted Houston and Texas inspired decor including metal sculptures of boots, horses, oil derricks, and cowboys by Let It Fly Events, plus casino tables and a pop-up portrait studio.
Attendees enjoyed fare from Local Foods, Cakes by Gina, Chocolate Fountain Express, Culinaire Inspired Cuisine and Events, Fuel Kitchen and Health Bar, Marriott Marquis, and more. Sips were courtesy of Barefoot Wines, 360 Vodka, Hussong’s Tequila, Ron Rio Rum, Triple Crown Whiskey, McCormick Scotch, and Silver Eagle Distributors, while tunes were by Richard Brown Music, as well as entertainers Pierre Alexandre and Bubba McNeely.
