At last: A refuge where Yao Ming will never get hurt
- The lifelike Yao figure also is on display in Shanghai and Hong Kong
- It's OK to touch Yao Ming at the Bangkok Madame Tussauds
Yao Ming's recurring injury problems have sidelined him again, but there's a place where he'll never have to worry about sprained ankles or bone bruises.
Madame Tussauds is including a likeness of the NBA star in its new museum in Bangkok. He'll share space with President Obama, Bruce Lee, Tiger Woods, Jim Carey and George Clooney.
Unlike its locations in New York, London, Las Vegas and Los Angeles, the Bangkok outpost is interactive, so patrons are encouraged to touch the figures on display.
"You can put your arms around our figures and be photographed with them. [It's] up close and personal," general manager Paul Williams told the Bangkok Post.
The Bangkok Madame Tussauds keeps a full-time maintenance team to make daily fix-ups when the figures get too much attention.
"George Clooney sometimes needs to be repaired perhaps every day because he gets so many kisses," Williams said.
Yao's likeness is already on display at Madame Tussauds museums in Shanghai and Hong Kong.
