Case Keenum cut from Texans: Hard knock NFL life continues for University ofHouston star
It's more than apparent that nothing is going to come easy for Case Keenum in the NFL.
Completely bypassed in the draft and given little chance to impress in the preseason, Keenum has now been cut by the Houston Texans. The team could still add Keenum to its five-man practice squad later if he gets through waivers without being claimed by another team (a likelihood given the low regard NFL personnel men have shown for the NCAA record-breaking University of Houston icon).
But for the 24-year-old Keenum it's another blow. Keenum apparently lost the third-string quarterback battle to NFL veteran John Beck on a Thursday night in which Beck got to play the first half with the better active players while Keenum moped up in the second half surrounded by the long shots of long shots.
Keenum did miss a few throws in the Texans' final preseason game. But he also spent some of his time getting pounded as the offensive line broke down around him.
Come back to CultureMap for much more. The Texans must have all their cuts into the league office by 8 p.m. Friday.
