It's a momentous day for Houston Texans superstar J.J. Watt — and perhaps a sad day for female Texans fans. The 29-year-old Pro Bowl defensive end announced that he is engaged to girlfriend Kealia Ohai, who captains the Houston Dash of the National Women's Soccer League.
The announcement was made Sunday, via Watt's Twitter page, with Watt proclaiming in his post, “I’m the luckiest man in the world. #SheSaidYes,” and posting four portraits, one of which features Watt on one knee overlooking the ocean.
The pair has been an item since 2016, having gone public in 2017 when Watt shared photos of the couple vacationing on social media. “There’s a little bit of that cat and mouse game where everyone wants a photo of us and wants us to confirm it,” Watt has said in an interview. “And I was like, all right, I’ll do it so now we can enjoy ourselves and live happily. And it’s been great.”
So, while the Texans season has yet to begin, Watt is clearly already having a Super Bowl year.
