Shelby About Town
Guess whose monikers made it into poetry with this year-end name game
Tis the day before New Year’s, and all through the town,
Partygoers are stirring, all set to get down.
Ring out the old and ring in the new!
But first, we must visit the year in review.
The parties, they came in all manner of do’s,
From dinners to socials that focused on shoes.
But aside from the silly and on to the wise
We look first to the patrons and high dollar prize.
Hats off to the Kinders, both Nancy and Rich,
Whose generous giving hit fever pitch.
Oscar Wyatt earns praise for his HGO gift
A cool million for Lynn, with no hint of thrift.
Joe Jamail did the same for his pal James A. Baker.
Ned Holmes held his reign as political king-maker.
The social scene soared with the great and the small
Of the folks that were there, we loved each and all.
Margaret Williams, Jan Duncan, Dan Dubrowski and Bevin,
Laura Casey, George Lancaster, Laura Ward, Sherri Levin.
Susan Krohn, Edward Sanchez, Craig Lidji, Susan Plank,
Robin Reimer, Kristi Schiller, Michelle Hevrdejs and Frank.
Jared Lang, John Andell, Jack Blanton, Jim Bob Taylor
Ashley Wehrly, Gracie Cavnar, Jeff Smith and Tom Woehler.
They’ve all been our friends through the year 2010,
Watch for them on our website again and again.
Laurie Allen, Robin Wombwell, Charles Clark and Jeff Hines,
Camp Bailey, Carrie Carson, Jim Lee, Vikki Vines.
Ramon Manning, Amy Purvis, Andrea White and Ceron,
Lora Clemmons, Michael Holthouse, Brian James, Ryland Holmes.
Martha Finger, Michael Landrum, Laura Arnold and John
Rick Lowe, Hedley Karpas, Chris Sanders and Don.
Mark Hanson, Anthony Freud, C.C. Conner, Gregory Boyd
Without these fine leaders could the arts fill the void?
The partying continues both uptown and down
From midtown to West U, the players abound.
Millette Sherman, Joyce Echols, Dancie Ware, husband Jim,
Meredith Cullen, Corbett Parker, Roxann Neumann and Tim.
Lonnie Schiller, Nick Neblett, Judy Nyquist, Jim Lee,
Hiram Butler, Michael Galbreath and Claudia Schmuckli.
The givers, the takers, the movers and shakers,
We’ve covered them all including some fakers.
But the most earnest of citizens remain in our focus
As we continue to salute them without hocus pocus.
Heather Pray, Jay Zeidman, Gregory Fourticq, Sara Dodd,
Randy Powers, Marshal Lightman, Betsy Eason and Tod.
Byron Hood, Stephen Newman, Nic Phillips, Elaine Turner,
Philippe Schmit, Roseanne Rogers — none on the back burner.
As the hours are fading on this last of the year,
Time to wish you good day and a night full of cheer.
