Changing the World Awards
National Philanthropy Day spotlights city's most generous givers of time, money and heart
Individuals "who change the world with a giving heart" were recognized at the 29th annual National Philanthropy Day luncheon at the Hilton Americas-Houston where more than 900 supporters gathered for the Association of Fundraising Professionals event.
Sue and Lester were honored with the prestigious Maurice Hirsch Award for Philanthropy while Ginni Mithoff received the award for Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser. M. Anne Murphy, CFRE with Dini Spheris, received the Byron Welch Award for Lifetime Achievement.
Organizations in the spotlight were the Cullen Trust for Health Care as Outstanding Philanthropic Foundation; Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. honored with the Houston Business Journal Outstanding Large Corporation award; St. Thomas High School recognized for the Outstanding Fundraising Program, More Than $2 Million; Gold Humanism Honor Society at Baylor College of Medicine honored as Outstanding Community Service Organization and KHOU-TV Channel 11 recognized as Outstanding Communications Partner.
The luncheon was chaired by Judy Howell and Susan Coulter.
Participants included AFP-Houston president Carme Williams, Joni Baird, Kim Sterling, Bill Barnett, Melinda Perrin, Clarence Cazalot, Susan McEldoon, Barbara and Corby Robertson, Diane Englet, Dorothy Ables, Dr. Paul Klotman, Joella and Steve Mach and Beth and Rob Wilson.
