Cheer squad: Women of accomplishment & their fans make for a kicking Chambergala
We love crowd enthusiasm particularly at mid-week charity fundraisers that can sometimes ring a bit dry even during the holiday season. So, when the personal cheering squads of the 11 honorees at the Greater Houston Women's Chamber of Commerce gala did their thing, it suddenly became a good time for all.
New Orleans transplant and honoree Darlene Bisso enjoyed the extra oomph of friends from the Crescent City, who flew in to help celebrate the evening at the InterContinental Houston Hotel Near the Galleria. Not to be outdone, attorney Sofia Adrogué had her three enthusiastic children and hubby, Sten Gustafson, in her supportive ranks.
Joining them in taking bows as 2010 Hall of Fame inductees were Philamena Baird, Sylvia Garcia, Suzanne Glasscock, Dr. Margaret Kripke, Susan McEldoon, Dr. Helen Mintz-Hittner, Beth Sanders Moore, Sharon Michael Owens and Beth Wolff.
Applause, applause for gala chairs Ellie Francisco and Susan Krohn, who drew a crowd of more than 400 supporters to the cocktail-attire event where decorations followed a holiday theme. Funds raised enhance chamber programs and a scholarship fund for women students.
In the holiday mix were Mary Ann Reynolds Wilkins and Bob Wilkins, Margaret Williams, Jim Daniel, Donna and Bob Bruni, Cappy Bisso, Franco Valobra, Trini Mendenhall-Sosa and Frank Sosa, Janiece Longoria and Steve Lasher, Melissa and Bill King, Leisa Holland-Nelson, Merele Yarborough and Pattie Dale Tye.
