Who are Houston's treasures? Social power players honored in front of a chichi crowd
At a splendiferous dinner at the Hilton Houston Post Oak, the Social Book once again honored a double handful of leading Houstonians as Houston Treasurers, individuals to be featured in the annual compendium of social events that publishes each January.
Hilton executive chef Jason Schneider pulled out the menu stops for the chichi crowd of 250 that included many past honorees and friends of the Social Book. Decor followed the hotel's renovation theme, that of oak trees. Theme Design Studios created the leafy decor while Flowers by Nino provided lush centerpieces, The Perfect Touch contributed decor and linens and the Richard Brown Orchestra entertained with Cole Porter favorites and holiday tunes.
On the welcoming committee were Social Book publisher Scott Evans, editor Jeff Henry, partner Sami Shbeeb and Houston Treasures founder Warner Roberts along with hotel GM John Binick.
Taking bows as 2014 honorees were Jana and Scotty Arnoldy, Shara Fryer, Lisa and Michael Holthouse, Barbara Jordan, Carolyn and Mike Mann, Soraya and Scott McClelland, Melissa and Michael Mithoff, Vanessa Sendukas, Nino Shbeeb, Alicia Smith, Dr. Richard Wainerdi and Andrea and former Mayor Bill White. Each was introduced by a past honoree and each was given tribute in videos prepared by Chris Swanson.
The first-ever Social Book Salute honored Neiman Marcus' Stacey Swift, who was accompanied by her husband, Bob Swift.
Who joined the party? Tara and David Wuthrich, Phoebe and Bobby Tudor, Lucinda and Javier Loya, Ginni and Richard Mithoff, Barbara and Charles Hurwitz, Shannon Hall and Marcus Sloan, Gracie and Bob Cavnar, Phyllis Williams, Roxann and Tim Neumann and Angie and Cliff Roberts.
