Santa arrived early for Texas Children's with a check for $1.9 million at a coolholiday party
Of the 400 fashionable lovelies and handsome gents that joined the Texas Children's Hospital Ambassadors holiday party, few could have said that they've ever seen a prettier setting.
Thousands of tivoli lights lined the transparent tent that was erected on the back lawn of the River Oaks home of Jennifer and Wil VanLoh. Adding to the visual enchantment were dramatic towers of coral amaryllis and table arrangements of vivid pink peonies, hydrangea, tulips and ilex berries, all created by Swift + Co.
It was the perfect sparkling tableau for the presentation of a special holiday gift —a check for nearly $1.9 million, presented to Texas Children's CEO Mark Wallace by Wil VanLoh, for the monies raised from the 2011 Ambassadors membership. The appreciative CEO noted that in the two years since it was formed, the Ambassadors group has raised more than $5 million for key hospital initiatives. This year's funds will support Texas Children's new Pavilion for Women.
Beyond schmoozing in the heady collection of philanthropists and business and cultural leaders, guests swayed to the holiday tunes of the David Caceres Band and supped on tasty temptations from Elizabeth Swift, the fried oysters being the overwhelming crowd pleaser.
Among the fashionable partygoers were Carolyn and David Anderson, Lilly and Thurmon Andress, Julia and Seth Barrett, Kelli and Eddy Blanton, Estela and David Cockrell, Carolyn Dorros, Jan Duncan, Terri and John Havens, Lindsay Holstead, Dr. Huda Zoghbi and William Zoghbi, Kara and Aaron Howes and Kirby and Scott McCool.
