The tanker spill and Galleria gridlock fail to dampen the party spirit at ZangToi event
The traffic nightmare that extended from the Southwest Freeway to engulf the Galleria area Wednesday night might have slowed the party action but the show went on as planned at Saks Fifth Avenue where Recipe for Success held its "Dress for Dinner With Zang Toi" fundraiser.
A tanker fuel spill on the freeway notwithstanding more than 100 valiant Recipe for Success supporters made it through the Galleria gridlock to gather in the couture salon for the cocktail/fashion event chaired by Isabel David and Roz Pactor. Man-of-the-hour Zang Toi, wearing his signature kilt (we call it a skirt) and white button-down shirt, mingled with the ladies and sprinkling of gents.
Guests noshed on taste sensations from Fleming's and Gigi's Asian Bistro & Dumpling Bar, grooved to the sounds of a DJ and sat down for a runway show of Toi's spring line, very floaty and feminine. The designer with a sure sense of humor added a Texas touch to a few of the 30 outfits shown — cowboy hats were the topnotch accessory.
Recipe for Success founder Gracie Cavnar made a quick appearance as she had to dash over to the Westin Oaks Hotel, where she was being honored by the Social Book as one of its 2011 Treasures.
Mingling in the crowd were Danny David, Alan Pactor, Frann Lichtenstein, Leisa Holland-Nelson, George Lancaster, Elizabeth Abraham, Valerie Palmquist, Gabriela and Gary Gerhart, Susie Criner, Annie Criner and Guyla Pircher.
