Craving designer labels, partying throng goes wild for Rent the Runway andpop-up shop
For those with Alberta Ferretti and Lela Rose tastes but with a budget more suited to Old Navy, the party at the pop-up store Gift on Wednesday night provided a welcome introduction to RentTheRunway.com. It's the sassy two-year-old website that offers designer threads and top-line accessories availabe for hire.
So if you were lusting after the dazzling Halston gown in purple in which the willowy model paraded or had designs on the Judith Leiber cocktail bag that she carried, the dream was within reach. In fact, four models paraded through the temporary retail space in West Ave in dresses and jewels straight from RentTheRunway.com.
In fact the two website reps, who flew in from home base in New York to introduce the concept to Houston, wore holiday red dresses from the site. AJ Nicholas stepped out in a one-shouldered Halston Heritage and Ashley Savage dressed in Sachin + Babi.
Over pink martinis and Sprinkles cupcakes, the NYC duo schmoozed with fashionistas eager to learn more about the site which features more than 150 designers including Moschino, Prabal Gurung and Proenza Schouler.
When not checking out the fashions, guests did some serious holiday shopping at the curated collection put together by PEEL gallery. Everything from affordable scented candles to a $22,000 piece by glass artist Sean Albert were among the offerings that included jewelry, other sculptures and sophisticated bibelots and objet d'art.
Checking out the Gift scene and getting the scoop on RentTheRunway.com were Greggory Burk, Courtney Hopson, Monsour Taghdisi, Judy Nyquist, Jim Petersen, Cerón, Lindley Arnoldy, Angela Ebrahimi, Merritt Beck, Liz Gorman, Lauren Levicki, Debbie Festari, and PEEL gallery's Steven Hempel and Michelle Avina. Escorting the New York ladies through the party scene was their Houston connection Michael Mandola.
