More than 1,200 Porsche enthusiasts turn out for a good time — and a good cause
What:TejasTreffen Porsche event.
Where: Spring Street Studios.
The scoop: More than 1,200 car collectors and enthusiasts turned out for the inaugural TejasTreffen event, which showcased 100 Porsche models — from a classic Porsche 962 to state-of-the-art supercar, the 918 Spyder.
And it was all in the name of a good cause. TejasTreffen founders Antonio Kawage, Michael Meldrum, Rudy Mancinas and Niels Meissner designated the Houston chapter of non-profit, the Snowdrop Foundation, as the beneficiary of proceeds raised. The charity supports college-bound pediatric cancer patients, childhood cancer survivors, and continued research to cure childhood cancer.
A live auction of five vintage Porsche hoods, each painted by local artists, contributed to fundraising efforts, which totaled more than $20,000.
