Partying Boardwalk Style
Rollicking Memorial Hermann "Under the Boardwalk" bash is a festive record breaker
As carnival characters roamed the ballroom of the Royal Sonesta Hotel and 500-plus guests tried their skills at various arcade games, the dinero kept rolling in at the Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital "Under the Boardwalk" gala. By night's end, the bash had scored a record-breaking $600,000 and change.
The revelry was headed up by Stacy and Jason Johnson and Sarah and Max Mischer, all four members of Memorial Hermann's young professional group Heroes in Health.
Partygoers played like kiddos at the crazy money-grab machine, the skee ball, the wine toss and loads of other carny amusements scattered across the ballroom decorated to the hilt by A Memorable Event. They grazed through food stations featuring sophisticated carnival fare and closed the night dancing to the sounds of Password.
Adding to the record proceeds was the raffle of a stainless steel, black dial, green sapphire crystal Rolex Milgauss, donated by Thomas Markle Jewelers.
In the spotlight were the evening's honorees — Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital Maternal Fetal Medicine team and H-E-B represented by Scott McClelland. Hospital honchos on the scene included Craig Cordola, senior vice president and regional president-Central/West Region, Memorial Hermann Health System, and Susie Distefano, Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital CEO.
