Houstonians scare up a grand sum at Ronald McDonald House's Boo Ball
What: 2018 Boo Ball benefiting Ronald McDonald House Houston
Where:Hilton Americas-Houston
The scoop: Ronald McDonald House Houston (RMH Houston) recently hosted its 2018 Boo Ball at the Hilton Americas-Houston in downtown. The “Hocus Pocus”-themed soiree brought together and celebrated the generosity of more than 700 of RMH Houston’s biggest supporters for an evening that raised $970,000 for the RMH.
Longtime RMH Houston supporters Stephanie and Anthony Milam served as event chairs, Christine and David Underwood served as honorary chairs, Marie and Kevin Brown were underwriting chairs, and KHOU Channel 11’s Chita Craft emceed the festivities. The night’s event called for black tie or Halloween-inspired attire. Upon arriving, guests sipped on cocktails and perused the numerous silent auction items.
For dinner, attendees noshed on decadent stout braised beef short rib with a manchego gremolata, while dessert included Witches Brew, a bubbling milk chocolate crunch with slimy green sauce, and Witches Eye — a white chocolate dome with a passionfruit mango center— on the menu.
As guests enjoyed the bountiful feast, dynamic auctioneer Rusty Mertink led the riveting live auction featuring VIP luxury suite tickets to a Houston Rockets game and a handmade quilt specially made for the event. Afterwards, The Society Band hit the stage as the witches and warlocks danced the night away.
Funds raised through the 2018 Boo Ball will support RMH Houston’s mission to provide a home away from home for families of seriously ill children being treated in the Texas Medical Center.
