It's official: Kate Upton and Justin Verlander tie the knot in Italian wedding
It's official: Houston Astros pitcher Justin Verlander and supermodel Kate Upton were married Saturday in Italy. The wedding took place at the Rosewood Castiglion Del Bosco resort, which is described as "one of the oldest and best-preserved estates in Tuscany" on its website.
The intimate 30-minute ceremony took place at a medieval church overlooking the Montalcino valley, according to several news reports. An eyewitness told E! News that guests walked up a staircase lined with hurricane candles to the church amid arrangements of deep red and blush flowers and olive branches. Afterwards they celebrated at a restaurant on the property, which also offers 23 suites and 11 luxury villas, as well as a private golf course, spa, winery, and vineyards.
Upton, in a white gown with lace sleeves and a long white veil pinned into her hair, smiled broadly in photographs published by TMZ. She carried a bouquet of peach, light pink, and ivory flowers. Verlander wore a classic black tux and bow tie. Bridesmaids wore blush colored gowns.
Due to the wedding, Verlander, 34, and Upton, 25, missed the big celebration parade and rally in downtown Houston Friday afternoon.
