The ladies had plenty to celebrate at Brennan's the other morning when the executive board of Victory, a fundraising branch of the American Cancer Society, saluted 25 years of Cattle Baron's Ball chairs with what they called a "baroness breakfast." Since its inception, the ball and the Victory-sponsored Holiday Shopping Card have raised more than $34 million for cancer research.
In true Cattle Baron's Ball tradition, most of the breakfast crowd arrived in their best western gear — miles of suede, tons of turquoise and requisite western boots. The event was dubbed "A Salute to Our Sassy Stars."
The buzz was all about the Holiday Shopping Card, which launched with those 20 percent bargains Oct. 18 and continues with hundreds of participating merchants through Sunday.
Gigi Harbison and Lauri Gordon, chairs of the 2013 Cattle Baron’s Ball, spread the word on the annual western-themed gala set for April 27 at the George Ranch Historical Park.
Among the Victory team sitting down for a scrumptious breakfast were Janet Bates, Sandy Bryan, Laura Hand, Lindy Hill, Kim Irwin, Anne Muntz, Nancy Atlas, Glenda Nicholson, Pamalah Tipps, Lynda Transier and Cynthia Urquhart.
