First responders and adorable pets steal the show at fashion fundraiser for Harvey relief

The scoop: To support Hurricane Harvey relief efforts and honor some of its heroes, Tamara Klosz Bonar and Lenny Matuszewski produced a fashion fundraiser with models from the Neal Hamil Agency and Page Parkes Texas, who appeared in fall designs from Cavender’s Boot City, Cotton Club Collection, Elizabeth Anthony, M Penner, Sloan Hall and Tootsies.
But the real scene stealers were first responders from Houston Police Department and Houston Fire Department, who strolled the catwalk with adoptable animals, including a pit bull from Houston PetSet and a kitten and two dogs from K-9 Angels Rescue.
The show, which was sponsored by the Texas Legacy Foundation and its founder Vivian Wise, along with The Astorian's Joe Pachioli and Cordua Catering, also featured music from DJ Nathan Looney.
Before the fashion show, the crowd of more than 200 guests enjoyed cocktails, light bites, and a special performance by Micaiah Walker, lead singer of the Houston-based pop/rock band Polaroid Summer.
The event raised more than $26,000 for Houston PetSet, Houston Children’s Charity, and The 100 Club.
