"Alice in Wonderland" gala honors advocates of early childhood education

The 411: Kristy and Chris Bradshaw and Heidi and Marcus Smith, both couples with young children, chaired the evening that raised almost $350,000 for the organization that works to improve the quality of early childhood education in the Houston area.
The evening honored Dorothy Ables with the Charles M. Bonjean Spirit of Collaboration Award. As chief administrative officer for Spectra Energy, Ables is widely recognized for her efforts at improving all aspects of Houston. ExxonMobil and United Way of Greater Houston received the Maconda Brown O'Connor Spirit of Collaboration Award for their community partnerships that provide services to young children.
