A feast fit for Marie Antoinette: Top chefs at a palatial Memorial estate makeit chateau good
With chefs including Le Mistral's David Denis, Mark's Mark Cox, RDG's Robert Del Grande and Mockingbird Bistro's John Sheely putting their best dishes forward, how can an evening go wrong? It can't.
Just ask the several hundred who grazed through the palatial Memorial area home of Marie and Dr. Ed Bosarge for the annual Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse (AVDA) Home Safe Home evening. For a number of guests, the vast, elaborately-decorated home recalled Versailles. Perhaps fittingly, the Bosarges have named their new abode Chateau Carnarvon.
While the focus was decidedly on palate-pleasing, the evening was not without its serious side.
Kudos to chairs Sofia Adrogué, Caroline Baker Hurley and Kristy Bradshaw, who orchestrated the gourmet tasting event.
Among the most popular dishes: butternut squash pansoti with parmesan puff from Tony's chef Grant Gordon; foie gras meatballs from Americas chef David Cordua; seafood terrine from Olivette chef Neal Cox; and house-cured charcuterie from Underbelly chef Chris Shepherd.
Also providing taste sensations for the gathering were Stacy Crowe-Simonson of Chez Nous, Andrew LaRue of Abuso Catering, Kiran Verna of Kiran's and sommelier Antonio Gianola.
While the focus was decidedly on palate-pleasing, the evening was not without its serious side. The event honored the Supreme Court of Texas and in attendance were Justices Nathan Hecht and Eva Guzman, accepting praise for the court's work at resolving the state's funding crisis in the legal aid system.
Supporting the cause and savoring the various dishes were Jackie Pontello, Luvi Wheelock, Claire Cormier Thielke and Rick Thielke, Bonnie and Dr. Larry Likover, Bruce Hurley, Chris Bradshaw and Eric Andell.
