Sexy home furniture: A Montrose boutique buzzes with art and school lovers
The Laura U interior design shop buzzed with activity Wednesday night when owner Laura Umansky hosted the first annual "FallArtFare" featuring the works of acclaimed Houston artist Nicola Parente.
Over the course of the cocktail reception, more than 125 fans poured in to mix and mingle amid the sexy home furnishings and design accessories that populate the various rooms of the Montrose area boutique. One of the auxiliary rooms was dedicated to the popular artist's works, another featured baby room furnishing and accessories.
The bubbly flowed, a DJ spun tunes and light bites from St. Genevieve provided early evening sustenance. Funds were raised for Communities in Schools.
Laura and Michael Umansky and Laura U's Afton Baily welcomed the steady flow that included interior designer John Kidd, Houston Grand Opera special events director Scott Ipsen and wife Larissa, St. Genevieve owner Darren Van Delden, Communities in Schools executive director Cynthia Clay Briggs, Hokanson Carpets' Angel Rios and Chaden and Dr. Michael Yafi.
