Matt Schaub, T.J. Yates, Owen Daniels join Clay Walker in MS fundraiser salutingBob McNair
What better way to put a high-profile spin on a charity fundraiser than invite a few Houston Texans along for the ride. That's just what country music artist Clay Walker did with his first annual Clay Walker Gala & Live Performances evening benefiting his charity, Band Against MS (BAMS).
The crew and supporters packed the House of Blues for the fundraiser that honored Houston Texans owner Bob McNair for his long-time support of BAMS. The multi-platinum country music artist was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1996 when he was only 26 years old, but through drug management, exercise and healthy lifestyle he has been able to return to his successful career.
Texans fans know that Walker is a regular at Reliant Stadium, frequently performing, and has even recorded a tune in honor of the Texans, "Football Time in Houston."
Associated Pipeline Contractors CEO Paul Somerville, accompanied by fiancé Kristine Hornberger, served as honorary chair and emcee for the evening. Houston Texans rising to the occasion were Matt Schaub, Tyler Clutts, T.J. Yates, Owen Daniels, Jon Weeks and Chris Myers. Add Roger Clemens, on the arm of wife Debbie, to the roster of sports greats lending support.
R&B soul artist Percy Sledge led off the entertainment performing his greatest hits including When a Man Loves a Woman. Walker later performed with singer/songwriter Sarah Marince — their performance bringing the packed house to its collective feet.
