Matt Schaub and Owen Daniels hit the new Eddie V's before feasting on the Chiefs
We can't say for certain that it was the fresh seafood at the new Eddie V's at West Ave that did the trick for Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub and tight end Owen Daniels. But we can confirm that the two fueled up on Eddie V's specialties in advance of their heart-stopping comeback victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
They were in the throngs that poured in over the weekend for the launch of the city's second Eddie V's. Good news for the Tower of Power (the two-tiered serving of jumbo shrimp, crab claws and oysters) fans, who didn't relish the drive out the Katy Freeway to the original Houston location at CityCentre. Which, by the way, was a rocking success from day one.
Executive chef Robert Rhoades, working feverishly in the glassed-in "open kitchen" of the new restaurant, pulled out the stops for three nights of VIP crowds that included numerous investors and Eddie V's co-founder Guy Villavaso of Scottsdale. With the big guy in the house, general manager James Powers was everywhere making sure that the preview nights were flawless.
Eddie V fans getting the first look at the slick eatery overlooking Kirby Drive included Cerón, Renea Abbott and Greg Manteris, Dominique Sachse, Mary and Vincent Kickerillo, Jeff Gremillion, Kelli Kickerillo and Todd Forester, Gigi Huang, Tod and Dr. Betsy Eason and Courtney and Bo Hopson.
