Houston's under 40 stars shine at roaring '20s speakeasy soirée
What: Houston Apartment Association 2018 Forty Under 40 Awards
Where:Prohibition Supper Club & Theatre
The Scoop: It was a mesmerizing Gatsby-era night of cutting loose in flapper dresses and fedora hats with signature cocktails, mini crab cakes, aerial acrobats and booze baths on the bar. More than 250 members and friends of the Houston Apartment Association clamored into a downtown speakeasy to celebrate apartment pros at the Houston Apartment Association's 2018 Forty Under 40 Awards.
Moonlight Dolls strolled among the crowd, serving up hors d'oeuvre platters full of prime rib crostini, calamari, and blackened chicken skewers. On top of the bar, a sultry Moonlight Doll coyly bathed in a bathtub of gin. High above, an aerial artist suspended from the ceiling spun and twirled, while revelers below sipped on the signature cocktail drink for the evening, the Gemstar Renovator in homage to a mint julep. Guests giggled, posed, and switched hats and mustache props at the photo booth.
It was a party four years in the making to formally recognize standout pros in the Houston apartment industry — from maintenance to managing — who serve the Houston apartment community.
“They are true rising stars, dedicated to raising the bar within the apartment industry in the greater Houston area,” says Michelle Pawelek, HAA 2018 president.
The Forty under 40 honorees were selected from more than applicants, by a review board comprised of honorees from the inaugural 2014 Forty Under 40 Class and select HAA board members.
