Showing off their tattoos and leather, Deacons of Deadwood rev their engines for11 charities
The rain might have thwarted the Deacons of Deadwood annual motorcycle parade but it did little to dampen the wild and woolly enthusiasm that more than 600 partygoers exhibited at the Bayou Music Center where the bikers-in-the-off-hours, serious business dudes 9-to-5, raised more than $300,000.
That brings the total raised during the 11 years that these guys and gals have been strapping on the leather and mounting their two-wheelers to $1 million, all for charity. This year's proceeds are earmarked for 11 different non-profits including Devereux, Boys and Girls Country and Convenant House Texas. Helping up the proceeds this year was the first-ever corporate sponsor for the fundraiser — Big Dog Logistics, represented by Kirk Lane.
Deacons of Deadwood president Stephen Lamb and his right hand gal Linn Ross spent most of the night on walkie-talkies ensuring that everything ran as scheduled. That schedule began with the retro sounds of the Fab 5 and moved on to the rocking tunes of Blue Oyster Cult. Charity committee chair Mike Fisher and Deacons veep Geoff Seaman were credited with coordinating the charity angle of the night.
Biker types included Deacons of Deadwood founder Sam Allen, Kathy and Randy Northcutt, David Thomas, Ellen and Peter Sommer, Haley Lussan, Brandi Schmidt, Kim McMillin, Steve Kelly, Justin Dossett, Ronnie Northcutt, Kemah Blair and Brooke and Ian Sharpe.
