Houston fashionistas rollick at Paris Fashion Week, turning heads with trueTexas charm
We are soooooo envious — of those Houston fashionistas who are making the scene at Paris Fashion Week. But they are sweet enough to share a few of their rich experiences so that we can at least live the good life vicariously.
Estela Cockrell posted a photo of herself with Melissa Mithoff and Tootsies' Fady Armanious on her Facebook page on Monday, just moments after they had seen that darling Andrew Gn's spring 2013 show.
She emailed later in the day, "Every piece has amazing details from pleats to appliqués. His showroom is divine! It's in the Marais district. Very chic! Fady was nice to take us around. Everyone rolls out the red carpet for Tootsies. And to boot, Andrew wants to come to Houston soon to visit!"
Friends know that Gn loves H-Town, particularly the fried chicken and his devoted clients.
"Of course, the food has been delectable with stops at our old favorite lunch spot L'Avenue & dinner and drinks . . ."
And if that didn't stir your travel yearnings, Estela's recounting of their rich itineraries in Paris surely will. "Melissa and I have been popping all around to showrooms and to the best restaurants," she emailed. "Lunch at L'Avenue and Hotel Costes and dinners at La Maison Blanche (where the view of the Eiffel Tower is amazing), Thoumieux, La Société. Shopping in between it all at Galeries Lafayette, along Avenue Montaigne and Place de la Madeleine."
"Lots of friends from Houston and LA are in town, so quite fun," Estela concluded.
Fashion bloggers Lindley Arnoldy and Annina Stefanelli are making the belle jour rounds and posting, posting, posting. For CultureMap readers, Lindley emails, "We are having a great time in Paris, trotting around to various shows, seeing the beautiful spring 2013 collections."
"The highlights have been Isabel Marant, Mugler, Anthony Vaccarello and Andrew Gn. We are headed to Elie Saab (and a few others) at the Tuileries Gardens."
So much for the shows, which won't be parading when CultureMap readers visit. What about the scene? "Of course, the food has been delectable with stops at our old favorite lunch spot L'Avenue, and dinners and drinks at The Pershing Hall, Hotel Costes, Kinugawa and 404 in Le Marais."
And we love Lindley's last tidbit, "By the way, the George V has a better margarita than anywhere in Texas — hands down! Jeff Leatham (a native Texan) has a stunning contemporary display of purple hydrangeas and lilies at the hotel right now."
And with that, we are counting the days, actually nine months, until Liaisons au Louvre III when Becca Cason Thrash reprises her role as chairwoman extraordinaire of the biennial fundraiser sponsored by the American Friends of the Louvre.
