Texans stars turn into hunky waiters as Matt Schaub shows off his ear and Codysteals the show
Excited Houston Texans enthusiasts and good-willed philanthropists filled the second level of Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House Monday night as Texans tight end Owen Daniels hosted the annual Celebrity Waiter Night benefiting his Catching Dreams Foundation. He was joined in hosting duties by Del Frisco's general manager Arthur Mooradian.
Trading in their helmets for aprons, some of your favorite hometown football heroes were on hand to serve a four-course signature cuisine meal and to pour wine for a crowd of more than 200 people. The lineup of athletes-turned-waiters for the evening included Arian Foster, Duane Brown, Connor Barwin, J.J. Watt and Mike Tyson-esque ear victim (bandage-free, but still very red) and good sport, Matt Schaub.
Nose tackle Shaun Cody stole the show, grabbing the mic and charming the audience all the way up to a final bid of $3,500 for dinner with his teammate, Daniels.
Two of Schaub's jerseys went for an impressive $4,500 combined in the auction, but the most notable bidding moment happened when nose tackle Shaun Cody stole the show by grabbing the mic from emcee Rod Ryan and charming the audience all the way up to a final bid of $3,500 for dinner with his teammate, Daniels.
The event raised more than $170,000 for Daniels' foundation which supports critically and chronically ill children and their families throughout the greater Houston area.
On hand for the fun-filled evening were David Solomon, Michael Garfield, Irene Perez, Channel 13's Bob Allen, Geoffrey Greenwade, Marie Carlisle, Ric Campo, Allison Radley, John Johnson, Rebecca and Scott Schwinger, Eddie Martiny and Brad Marks.
