There has been a change of plans. No waiting until the announcement party in October for the unveiling of the 2011 Women of Distinction.
In a break with tradition, the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation and KTRK Channel 13 released the official list Wednesday night, a few days after each of the honorees had been surprised with a bouquet of flowers and video of the moment.
All set to take bows on stage at the Winter Ball at the Hilton Americas-Houston on Jan. 22 are honorees Susan Boggio, Jacqueline Chaumette, Lavonne Cox, Beth Madison, Judy Nyquist, Kristi Schiller, Lisa Richardson, S. Shawn Stephens, Patti Dale Tye and Laura Ward. To be honored as Women of Distinction Ambassador is Philamena Baird. These high-profile women were selected on the basis of their community involvement and philanthropy.
Although this cat is out of the bag, the party goes on at Saks Fifth Avenue, a major sponsor, as it has been for many years. The Oct. 20 soirée at Saks will be a salute to the ladies rather than a traditional announcement party. Organizers including ball chairs Jan Carson and Virginia Reisman, honorary chair Mary Ann McKeithan and SFA general manager Terry Zmyslo promise that the evening will be as entertaining as ever.
In advance of the "Northern Lights & Starry Nights" black-tie gala, CCFA and KTRK have several pre-events planned including a girls' night out at Saks on Nov. 17 and an underwriter dinner Jan. 13.
