Aging Gracefully, Stylishly
Three decades of parties, philanthropy and service under one roof a Junior League milestone
What:Junior League of Houston fall fashion luncheon.
Where: The Junior League Tea Room.
The scoop: Tootsies creative director Fady Armanious took the ladies on a high style ride through his fall favorites with a runway show featuring Junior Leaguers earning their volunteer hours as models. Others earned their hours donning the requisite yellow and white uniforms and serving the well-heeled crowd. Once again, this seasonal fave, was sold out in minutes, dictating two days of back-to-back fashion frolic.
The luncheons, overseen by Junior League president Shannon Wiesedeppe and Tea Room chairman Shelby Damiani, serve as the season launch for the league's philanthropic handiwork which includes pumping into the community more than $2 million in trained volunteer time and direct financial support to 37 community projects.
The luncheon doubled as a celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Junior League's Briar Oaks home. Founded in 1925, the Junior Leauge of Houston first took up residence in a John Staub dwelling that later became Brennan's.
