Young professionals go wild making tiny lending libraries: Creative miniature houses to help kids
What:United Way of Greater Houston's young professionals group Tiny Libraries bash.
Where: United Way headquarters on Waugh Drive.
The 411: Close to 100 members of the United Way's newest donor group, Lead.Impact.Network.Change or LINC, gathered to test their talents at house painting, albeit miniature houses that will serve as Tiny Libraries, filled with children's books, to be located in low-income neighborhoods across the city. The whimsical structures, resembling giant birdhouses, will contain some 50 books for what the United Way describes as "a self-serve, take one, leave one lending library concept."
Once the Tiny Libraries are placed at United Way-affiliated agencies and elementary schools, they will be photographed with the images posted on LINC's social media accounts so that fans can vote for their favorite.
