Animal love takes over a trendy Houston hotel: Fierce and fabulous pets rock
Glamazons Tena Lundquist Faust and Tama Lundquist and the debonarie John Evatz ruled at Hotel ZaZa Friday night when they brought in record dollars for PetSet with the 11th annual fundraiser, Fierce & Fabulous PetSet soirée.
By the time the crowd of 275 departed for the night, the organization that provides grants to animal welfare nonprofits had been enriched by $200,000. That handsome sum due in part to the largesse of major sponsor Momentum Porsche.
It was heartwarming in particular for the event's honorees, Mark and Debra Grierson (though she was at home ill, she kept up with the proceedings). These two are serious animal lovers, known on occasion to house a menagerie of four-legged critters ranging from rabbits to pooches and kitties. Mark's remarks were a tribute to Debra and her generous heart.
Joining the Lundquist identical twins and their co-chair Evatz in the spotlight was emceeDeborah Duncan of KHOU Channel 11 and auctioneer Jeff Smith, who rattled off the three live auction items with success and speed.
Animal lovers included Rob Rutherford, City Councilman Jack Christie, Mauney Mafrige, Carmina Zamorano, Gina and Dr. Devinder Bhatia, Courtney Hopson, Diane and Michael Caplan, Lori Freese, Shelby Kibodeaux and Bruce Padilla, Vivian Wise and Sergio Morales, Neal Hamil, Gail Brown, Barbara Van Postman and Aysegul and Mike Denney.
