Throwing open the doors of Houston's trendiest closets, this sale sets a new record — and draws a reality TV star
What: The Women's Home Renew & Redux fashion show and shopping event.
Where: The Grand Foyer of Wortham Theater Center.
The 411: A sellout crowd of 600 fashion-minded gals and sprinkling of guys turned out for the fifth annual fashion show and sale that turned the vast lobby into a shopper's dreamworld of high-end designer and couture clothing. While most of the items came from the closets of stylish supporters, some pieces came from the Women's Home's Cottage Shop thrift shop in Montrose. Lenny Matuszewski and Tamara Bonar wove the fab fashions into a grand runway show, the clothes modeled by 21 friends of the Women's Home.
By the time guests had finished sampling tasty delights from Fish and the Knife and Seasons 52 and had cleaned out the racks, the Women's Home was $111,000 richer, a record for this event.
Who: Varda Dror, Yasmine Haddad, Chau Nguyen, Cindi Rose, Mandy Kao, Tina Zulu, Joanne King Herring, Kristen Gilmore, Andy Cerota, Blair Ryan, Will Chang and even Juan Carlos, the Montrose rollerblader of America's Got Talent fame.
