A new downtown restaurant's preview feast leaves diners impressed — and high-profile chefs pleased

The 411: Ben McPherson and Matt Wommack, executive and sous chefs, respectively, of the upcoming eatery, took over the industrial space at the Heights area bakery for an evening of culinary indulgence as they tempted more than 50 diners with a 10-course tasting of seafood-heavy dishes. Served family style, the menu included Lobster Houston, served with crawfish, corn and potatoes; New Orleans barbecued shrimp; oysters Bienville; and Wahoo crudo.
The Prohibition SupperClub & Bar is set to open in early September in the old Isis Theatre in downtown. In keeping with the prohibition theme, hostesses dressed in flapper attire escorted diners to the tables.
Who: Sampling the good eats were guests including Glenda and Robert Apgar, Tina and Sam Governale, Catherine Governale, Anh Mai, Tod Eason, Marcy de Luna, Mary Kate Albright and Ron Murray, Cindy Dartez and Vina Arjomandnia.
