Party Like A Rock Star
The ultimate '90s Party: Hot young professionals channel 90210, Dirty Dancing to reach Nirvana
The zeitgeist of the 1990s — a melange of grunge, metal, Beverly Hills 90210 prep plus flannel and cutoff shirts — occupied Winter Street Studios for the 13th Annual "Party Like a Rock Star" young professionals rave that raised funds and awareness for Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast.
Party chairs Natalie Alfaro and Mayra Cuello and a coterie of Planned Parenthood Young Leaders set a da bomb mood, in part thanks to gallerist Nicole Longnecker, who decorated the space with art by Dennis McNett, and lip art courtesy of Houston-based artist Natalie Irish.
You can imagine what went down when Lori Anne impersonated Jennifer Grey and the DJ played "(I've Had) The Time of My Life."
Amid the hard rock scene of 300 out came Mike Maggart as Patrick Swayze from Dirty Dancing. You can imagine what went down when Lori Anne impersonated Jennifer Grey and the DJ played "(I've Had) The Time of My Life." The two executed the epic final scene, engendering the throng to dance and sing along the unforgettable track.
Jim Petersen Jr. as the song "Purple Rain" won Best Male Costume, Victoria Whitaker as the cover of Nirvana's Nevermind album took home Best Female Costume and Emily Vinson and Danny Fuller as Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake styled in denim earned the Best Couple Costume award.
Nibbles from El Big Bad, Phoenicia Specialty Foods, Butter and Company Catering, Hunan Garden, Sprinkles Cupcakes, Little Bigs, Pondicheri and Sparrow Bar + Cookshop plus alcohol from Buffalo Bayou Brewing Co. added the necessary fuel to keep this high-decibel bash going postal until the clock struck midnight.
In the crowd were James Glassman, Ken Sissingh, Mayra and Jose Cuello, David Valadez, Sam Cole, Lauren and Michael Reeder, Anita Hollman, Allison Davis, Christian Miliam, Mandy Trichell, Francesco Conti, Cory Stephens and Janicca Lee.
