Cute Young Things swarm Tootsies for Houston Grand Opera soiree
Even in summer, the tony performing arts groups continue mining the fields of the young professionals who will one day lead their boards and benefits. Such was the case when Houston Grand Opera hosted a "Couture and Cocktails" fete at Tootsies.
HGO benefited in more ways than one. In addition to courting the up-and-coming social sweethearts, HGO received 10 percent of all sales made that night.
To encourage a little loosening of the purse strings, there was plenty of Three Olives Vodka. The perfect accompaniment to caviar appetizers. Talk about a posh party! And in place of typical DJ tunes, opera arias and choruses wafted through the store.
Isabel David and Valerie Palmquist chaired the gathering for which members of HGO's Opening Night young professional's group modeled fashions appropriate for grand soirées at Wortham Theater Center including HGO's opening night performance of Madame Butterfly on Oct. 22.
The Cute Young Things included Megan Jump, Emma Duffin, Amy Thompson, Audrey Cochran, Lauren Clark, Tamar Mendelssohn, Brittany Sakowitz, Claire Cormier Thielke and Linda Bell.
To keep things interesting, there was a manly representation of guys in the mix including John Andell, Mark Yzaguirre, Joshua Espinedo, Kenneth Tsai and Gavin Torabi.
