No ordinary summer escape: Houston influentials play it cool in U.S. Ambassador's residence in Paris
Not everyone from Houston is summering in Aspen, Pebble Beach and Nantucket — though the rest of us wish we were. A handful of H-town philanthropists have been champagne toasting in Paris in honor of Donna Chapman, who just received the American Hospital of Paris Foundation's Medal Award.
Chapman was recognized for her long-term support of the AHPF for which she has served on the foundation board, on the hospital board of governors and as foundation chair. In receiving the honor, she joins such notables as former Ambassador Howard Leach, Christiane Guerlain and Michael P. Schulhof.
The honor was presented to Chapman at a luncheon at Hotel de Pontalba, the U.S ambassador's gilded residence on the Rue Faubourg St. Honoré, where a handful of Houstonian supporters of the hospital were on hand. The luncheon was part of a series of tours and private visits and receptions in honor of Houston AHPF board members and patrons as well as supporters from New York and Paris.
Houstonians in the glamorous contingent included Anna Dean, Astrid Van Dyke, Diane Lokey Farb, Coco Blaffer, Molly and Jim Crownover, Emily and Tyler van Houtan and Donna and Joe Kurka.
