What: BBVA Roof Garden cocktail reception

Where: Museum of Fine Arts, Houston

The scoop: The ornate rooftop green space at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston has a new name. Corporate leaders from BBVA USA unveiled the newly renamed BBVA Roof Garden at the Glassell School of Art, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, during a rooftop cocktail reception.

BBVA, which announced that it would drop its country-specific names and unify its brand worldwide on April 24, officially launched the new brand on June 10. The global financial institution hosted the reception in honor of its global brand unification and renaming of the BBVA Roof Garden.

Guests mixed and mingled and were treated to live music, provided by a Houston Symphony quartet, cocktails, and hors d’oeuvres. Attendees included the global financial institution’s group executive chairman Carlos Torres Vila; president and CEO of BBVA USA, Javier Rodríquez Soler, and other key leaders for the bank.

Representing the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston at the reception were chairman of the board and life trustee Richard and Nancy Kinder; chair emerita of the board and life trustees Cornelia and Meredith Long; chairman of the finance committee and life trustees, Lynne and Joe Hudson; and chairman of the Glassell School, Leslie and Brad Bucher.

In May 2018, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, with support from BBVA, unveiled the first phase of additions to the Susan and Fayez S. Sarofim Campus: the new Glassell School of Art, BBVA Roof Garden, and The Brown Foundation, Inc. Plaza.

The BBVA Roof Garden is named in honor of the bank, which is the leading corporate donor of the campaign.
