Showstopping jewels, great champagne and college prep make for an unusual night
No summer slackers in the crowd that turned out at DeVille Fine Jewelry recently for college admissions strategist Jessica Givens' book signing for her Get Your Summer Strategy On! The book provides teens (and their parents) with "a step-by-step guide to maximizing the potential of the summer months" and thereby enhancing their chances of getting into their preferred university.
Clearly no rest for weary high schoolers, whose parents are intent on adopting Givens' approach to college application success. Based in Houston, Givens is a much sought-after expert who helps students and their parents streamline the application process through small-group and one-on-one courses.
DeVille proprietor Liz Glanville pulled out the stops in her swank emporium for the evening by bringing in chef Olivier Ciesielski of L'Olivier to provide foodie inspirations and popping the cork on beaucoup bottles of champagne.
Dr. Rolando Maldonado was one of those scooping up copies of the book, his going to nieces and nephews. Others in the crowd included Erinn and John McMahon, Joel Bickley, Amanda Gross with son Patrick Henry, Dr. Dawn Lord, Laura Bhatia, Jamil Driscoll (Jessica Givens' husband), Mary Ann McKeithan, Lynn Mathre, Randa Kennon and Tom Glanville.
