Houstonians honored for being angels to local special-needs children
What: The 2018 Be an Angel gala

The scoop: More than 325 Houstonians packed the Hotel ZaZa to honor outstanding Houstonians who make a difference in the lives of children at the 2018 Be An Angel gala. Dan Pastorini and Pam Morse served as dinner chairs, while Dot and Walt Cunningham served as gala chairmen. Deborah Duncan served as emcee, as she welcomed guests to the safari-themed event, which raised $450,000 for a worthy cause. Be An Angel serves children with multiple disabilities or profound deafness by providing adaptive equipment and special services.
Honorees recognized for their service to children in need were U.S. Representative Ted Poe, Texas 2nd Congressional District; Jenifer Jarriel, president and CEO of DePelchin Children’s Center; Father T.J. Martinez (posthumously) founder of Cristo Rey Jesuit College Preparatory Houston; and Insperity's Paul J. Sarvadi, Richard G. Rawson, A. Steve Arizpe and Jay E. Mincks.
